Acupuncture is a gentle, low risk treatment using very small needles placed under the skin to stimulate your body’s own natural energy and healing pathways, called meridians. Acupuncture can be used for a wide variety of medical ailments to augment traditional western therapies. Common referrals are for fertility/pregnancy, migraines, neck or back pain, joint pain, anxiety, insomnia, scar pain, and neuropathy pain.

A typical course of acupuncture would consist of an initial comprehensive visit lasting roughly 60 minutes to review the history, complete an examination, formulate an acupuncture plan, and perform the first treatment. This will be followed by 4 to 8 acupuncture sessions once weekly or once every 2 weeks. Most points are needled in the arms and legs, but also can be in the abdomen, neck, back, ear (auricular), and face.
